We were up bright and early today for our last day of adventure, and it was actually bright because it was sunny!
Clear skies did lead to a very cold morning, so we wrapped up in lots of (newly dried from the drying room) layers and got on with cooking breakfast. Sausages, poached eggs and bread part two!
Then, it was off to Wray Castle to test out their Geocaching course. Today was full of map-based exploring and treasure hunts – we also did the Orienteering Course at Fell Foot, and got a feel for it as our nearest National Trust property. There might be an opportunity to paddle in Windermere on camp!
Thankfully the sunshine had dried out the tent outer and the event shelter, so we got those away before any threat of rain. The inner and groundsheet are still wet, so they’ll need drying when we get home to preserve the waterproofing. Packdown took about an hour in total, including packing our bags, helped by not mixing our belongings together in the tent!
Then it was time to leave camp, get a bite to eat en route, and drive home!
Our Weekend adventure is over. Even with the fickle September weather, Wayne and I both had a great time! Now to unpack, clean and dry our gear, and get our heads together to plan which activities we choose to do on Summer Camp after our testing this weekend!
