Meet our volunteer team

Each section has its own email that will send to all leaders in that section. If you have a query, please use that email rather than emailing an individual leader to ensure you get a quick response.

The Group Leadership Team makes sure:

  • The Group’s sections are supported
  • Volunteers in the group can develop and share skills
  • The Group is engaging with the local community, and has a positive image
  • Effective processes, like finance, joining enquiries and meeting places are well managed

Group Lead Volunteer – Dave Lindsay (Skip) skip@the42nd.co.uk

My name is Dave and I am the Group Scout Leader / Group Lead volunteer for the Thorpe Hesley Scout Group. I have been with the group since I was 6 when I started as a Beaver. I progressed through Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts before becoming a leader when I returned from University. I still like to be active in the sections and help in as many as I can along with my main role. I am also one of the Explorer Scout Section team with Firestorm unit.

My name is Lisa and I’m a Squirrel Leader. I’m also a mum of two energetic boys. My love for walking and adventures keeps me active and I’m always on the lookout for new experiences. Having enjoyed my time in Scouts when I was younger, I am now dedicated to giving back and helping the next generation discover the joys and values of Scouting

Hi, I’m Tom, I’m passionate about making sure everyone especially people with visual impairments and disabilities has the support and opportunities they deserve. Living with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), I understand the challenges people face and work hard to break down barriers through advocacy and leadership.

I’m currently studying Digital Support Services and serve as the Student Executive for SEND at Barnsley College, representing students with special educational needs and disabilities. I also contribute to national SEND policies as a Senior Student Consultant for the Association of Colleges SEND Network.

I lead campaigns to expand inclusion in blind sports, develop student-led networks, and help create awards and charters that empower young people with SEND. I’m proud to be part of a movement that gives a voice to those too often unheard.

Outside of this, I’m an enthusiastic Scout Volunteer, always ready to take on challenges, support my community, and learn new skills.

“If I can do it, anyone can.”
